BUILDING & SECURING CORPORATE RESILIENCE

FOUR CRUX-FOCUSSED SERVICES

for attaining long-term corporate resilience:

In its essence, resilience depends on a mixture of fitness, thinking and attitudes which guide the way in which

  • resilience-relevant decisions are made – or unfortunately overlooked
  • setbacks, disruptions and dysfunctionalities are handled – or mishandled
  • the balance between corporate stability and corporate versatility is addressed – or not.

The term which we use for this mixture is ‘an appropriate form-of-mind’. It applies to both organisations and individuals and the word ‘appropriate’ captures the fact that each organisation and each individual require their own specific approach-formula to attaining adequate resilience.

We observe that managers who apply an appropriate form-of-mind in their organisations are able to identify the relevant factors in the following two clusters and address them in an effective manner:

  1. the resilience-relevant pre-requisites of their organisation

[depending on the culture, this can include the pre-requisites of their individual employees]

  1. the resilience-relevant circumstances which already pertain in their organisation’s environment, plus those circumstances which could possibly arise.

At the organisational level, a corporate form-of-mind develops to a significant extent from the specific premises of ‘deep-culture’, ‘deep-ethics’ and ‘deep-aesthetics’ upon which the organisation has been built. [The definitions of these terms are to be found in our publications: see ‘Articles’.]

These premises tend to stem primarily from the personalities and backgrounds of the organisation’s owners and-or executive managers. However, the corporate forms-of-mind which they generate are not always the most appropriate for the organisations which they own or manage.

Furthermore, very few managers have been adequately trained to recognise what these premises are and how they impact on the performance and long-term resilience not only of the organisation, but also of their employees and themselves.

Independently of the specific premises upon which an organisation is built, our observations also show that several further and very central provisos are generally poorly understood, even though they need to be fulfilled by management for attaining long-term corporate resilience.

Hence, as a contribution to the attainment of long-term corporate resilience, we offer a set of four services for owners, managers and employees which address the particular crux-issues for their corporate resilience in a ‘learning-on-the-job’ format, i.e. through individual managerial resilience consultations, corporate resilience audits, resilience workshops and a 24/7 service for any members of the organisation whose personal resilience suddenly needs immediate support.
